Eligibility Criteria

The SQA Advanced Certificate/Diploma in Electrical Engineering is suitable for a wide range of learners and As with all SQA qualifications, entry is at the discretion of the centre. Suitable formal entry qualifications include:
SQA Advanced Certificate
SQA Advanced Diploma
  • One Higher from Physics, Engineering Science or Higher Mathematics, and at least three National 5s including Mathematics, Physics/Engineering Science and English.
  • National Certificate Group Award in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering (SCQF level 5, plus additional maths or SCQF level 6 award
  • Qualifications comparable to the above, gained through other awarding bodies.
  • HNC Electrical Engineering
  • One Higher from Physics, Engineering Science or Higher Mathematics and at least three National 5s including Mathematics, Physics/Engineering Science and English.
  • National Certificate Group Award in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering (SCQF level 5 plus additional maths or SCQF level 6 award)
  • Qualification comparable to the above, gained through other awarding bodies.

QAA Benchmark Statements

The EduQual Diploma in Business Marketing and Strategy is an SCQF Level 11/RQF equivalent Level 7 qualification and can be compared to the QAA Benchmark Statement (2015) on Master’s degrees in business and management (Type 1). Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL (sometimes referred to as APL) may be claimed by a learner in situations where: 1. The learner has already studied SCQF/RQF equivalent Level 7 units that meet the learning outcomes of the units of this programme. .
2.  The learner can also produce evidence to demonstrate how each of the assessment criteria have already been met.

In such a case, those matching units can be exempted from study, credits can be claimed, and the evidence supporting the RPL claim can be included in the learner’s portfolio of evidence when claiming the award.
